Food Can Balance Your Energy: For Summer, Try a Refreshing Glass of Salty Lemonade!

Let food be thy medicine, and let medicinebe thy food.”

This famous quote is often attributed to Hippocrates, although there’s no actual proof he ever said it. But whoever did say it was brilliant! Everything we put in our bodies affects us, so not only can we nurture ourselves with food, we can heal and balance ourselves with it, too. It’s long been known that specific flavors support and balance each of the Five Element energies. Once again, to honor the summer energy of Fire, we’re going to bring up more Water energy to help keep Fire energy in balance. The taste that supports Water is salty and there are any number of wonderful ways to include this flavor in our lives. Today we’re going to experience the sweet saltiness of a refreshing glass of Salty Lemonade! Not only will the saltiness bring up Water energy to help balance Fire, the sweetness of the lemonade will also bring up Earth energy, which as we discussed last week, helps to balance Fire energy, too. This sweet and salty lemonade is a perfect thirst quencher for summer. A quick and easy drink to prepare, it can be ready in 5 minutes. Plus, lemons are a great source of Vitamin C and contain many healthy plant compounds, minerals, and essential oils. And according to some sources, eating lemons may lower your risk of heart disease, cancer, and kidney stones. So, roll up your sleeves and get ready to help support your Water energy (so it’s ready to help manage your Fire) with a delicious glass of Salty Lemonade courtesy of pavaniskitchens.com.
